The community in numbers
Registered accounts
The total comes from the active game database. It counts registered accounts, excluding guest accounts. One person may own several accounts; existing test accounts are not automatically excluded. The display updates approximately once a minute. A dash means unavailable, not zero players.
Active players · last five minutes
This counts distinct accounts with a successful game action in the last five minutes. Page views, sign-in and automatic game-state or statistics refreshes do not count as game activity. This is neither a visitor count nor a count of continuously connected people.
Brief server-side storage
The activity counter keeps an account reference pseudonymised with a secret HMAC key and the last action time only in the running process's memory. No activity file is written. Entries expire after five minutes and are cleaned up every 30 seconds, so they are retained for at most approximately five minutes and 30 seconds. Restarting clears this counter. For the first five minutes after a restart, the active-player count is unavailable (shown as a dash) until a complete five-minute window has been observed; it is not reported as zero. An account can involve several people; one person can own several accounts.
No visitor analytics
There is no visitor identifier, fingerprinting, statistics cookie or browser presence beacon. Only the two aggregate numbers are published. Technical server logs generated by requests are separate; see the privacy notice for details.
